Never
Forgotten
This is in remembrance of all the POWs and MIAs who
have served their country to know that they are never forgotten.
You
may have noticed this small table set in a place of honor.
It is set for one...symbolizing the fact that members of our
profession of arms are missing from our midst. Commonly called
POWs or MIAs... We call them brothers. They are unable to
be with their loved ones and families, and so we pay humble
tribute to them, and remember their continued absence.
This table set for one is small...it symbolizes the frailty
of one prisoner alone against his or her suppressors.
The table cloth is white...symbolizing the purity of their
intentions to respond to their country's call to arms.
The single rose displayed in a vase...signifies the blood
they may have shed in a sacrifice to ensure the freedom of
our beloved United States of America. It also reminds us of
the families and friends of our comrades in arms who keep
faith, while awaiting their return.
The yellow ribbon...tied so prominently on the vase, is reminiscent
of the yellow ribbon worn upon the lapel and breast of thousands,
who bear witness to their unyielding determination to demand
a proper accounting for our missing.
The
candle...is reminiscent of the light of hope which lives in
our hearts to illuminate their way home, away from their captors,
to open arms of a grateful nation.
A slice of lemon...is on the plate to remind us of their
bitter fate.
There is salt...sprinkled upon the bread plate symbolic of
the countless family tears as they wait.
The glass is inverted...they cannot toast with us at this
time.
The chair...is empty...They are NOT here.
REMEMBER!!!
All of you who served with them and called
them commrades. You who depend on their might and aid, and
relied upon them. Do not forsake them...Pray for them and
remember them.
